Coffee & Capital Connects Entrepreneurs with Investors

Posted by: tria6027    Tags:  networking event, Philadelphia    Posted date:  July 18, 2011

Coffee & Capital, a new program at the University City Science Center, will help entrepreneurs over a major start-up hurdle: connecting with investors. Entrepreneurs will have a chance to sit down with an investor over a cup of coffee and get their questions answered as the Coffee & Capital program debuts Wednesday, July 20 in the new Quorum space at the Science Center, 3711 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA. The monthly program, which is sponsored by the Dolfinger-McMahon Foundation, will run from 8 – 9:30 a.m.

“Coffee & Capital meets a key objective of the Quorum initiative by addressing funding, a critical component to the growth and sustainability of startup companies”

In the first session, angel investor Ellen Weber of Robin Hood Ventures will meet with a small group of entrepreneurs over coffee and a light breakfast for an informal Q&A session that will give unique insight into the process angels go through in selecting companies in which to invest as well as first-hand education on the best way to approach investors.

“Coffee & Capital meets a key objective of the Quorum initiative by addressing funding, a critical component to the growth and sustainability of startup companies,” says Science Center President & CEO Stephen S. Tang, Ph.D., MBA. “With adequate funding entrepreneurs are able to concentrate on their businesses, grow quicker and create jobs – or in some cases fail faster.”

Launched in May 2011, Quorum is a strategic initiative of the University City Science Center that is designed to unite the region’s entrepreneurship and innovation communities through a central gathering space on the Science Center’s campus at 3711 Market Street and related programs that enable idea generators to meet, share and learn, promoting the success of companies, individuals and the Philadelphia region.

EDS: Please note that registration for the July 20 Coffee & Capital session has closed.
